In this chapter I learned about automation and how useful it can be. In the early days people how to manually automate things by changing the settings while they were recording it to tape, and if they messed up they would have to do the entire song over again. I also learned a lot about automation in Pro Tools and the different types and ways to do it, such as read, touch, latch, and write. In the studio with Mark Sinko we messed around with automation on the rock song we were working on previously. We automated the solo to get louder and pan center when the solo came and go back to its normal level and panning when it was over.
