Getting Started Posted on 2014-09-29 by Adrien Sanchez

Going through the first chapter on my own in the textbook was easy, all the basic concepts of sound and hearing weren't unfamiliar to me. Once I got into the studio for my first lesson, after showing me around again Thomas went through the lesson with me, and it was even more simple to comprehend by then. We quickly went over the vocabulary I'd need to know and he showed me wafeforms, their different envelopes and how they look and sound. He explained mirroring and even how the room was set up specifically for mirror so they could get the best sound from the desk, which was interesting. After we talked about all of those things, he showed me some examples of phase and what things looked like out of phase in ProTools. We went into the other chapters, going over audio file types and eventually went over all the different types of microphones and their polar patterns and even pulled out a couple of each to show me.

So far I'm really enjoying the program and am really excited for all the things I'm going to learn.
