In my second lesson with Thomas we went over microphones again, to brush up on all the things we had covered in the last week. After we pulled out three condensor microphones, two of which were the kind with variable polar patterns, and set them up. He went in playing some guitar and had me start recording to show me the different types of mic set ups and how they sound and what sounds we could create with them. We started out with just one condensor, eventually putting another one for ambient miking. After we added a third mic into the bathroom and that gave us a really cool washed out kind of sound. We also went over having a cardiod and an omni set up, two cardiods in an x y, and a few others. He also showed me how to make a recording have more room sound by using reverb and some delay.
