During week one, I familiarized myself with the Modern Recording Techniques book as well as the curriculum in the workbook for the recording connection. The first chapter and assignment largely had to do with sound and hearing. It seemed like a complete overview of what was to come in the following chapters. A lot had to do with terms for sound, like period, frequency, wavelength, waveforms, phase, velocity, etc. A lot of these things I was already familiar with, however I did not know some of the formulas for finding such things. It was interesting, and also made me think of how important the formulas were in comparison to actually knowing and understanding the terms. In any case, the first chapter was very informative and got me excited for the things to come. Unfortunately, my mentor Zach had to cancel on our studio time, so the remainder of my week was spent working and reading ahead for the following week.
