Week three dealt with Digital Audio Technology, which may be one of my weakest points as far as recording and engineering goes. In the past and still today, I have worked primarily on analog gear. I find that since you are lacking in some regards against so many other options with digital workstations and DAWs, there is the necessity to work outside the box and one can come up with some very innovative sounds with that. I've worked on 1/2 and 1/4 inch tape, as well as fooled around with old tascam Portastudios and analog mixers. There may be a fad thats happening now with cassette, but I really love its sound. Listen to White Fence and you'll get the idea.
I really cant wait to get my copy of pro tools and start messing around. I've used it and Logic in the past and while im mediocre at best, I think I will get the jist of it fairly quickly since I have a lot of experience working with Final Cut and After Effects in the past, and both platforms seem to be pretty similar.
The plans for the warehouse seem to be falling through, so I think I may go at it alone and try to do something smaller scale and more personal. Time to start looking for more real estate.
