During week two, I received a lot of information from FreqLab as far as the intern duties and what it would take for me in the future to be able to do freelance work as an audio engineer and assistant to the audio engineer in future sessions. A lot of the material is beyond me at this point, but over the course of the next few months I hope to change that. The most daunting of all is the manual for the SSL, but I think with a little and practice and application I will get the jist of it. Its not like I haven't worked on a mixer before, and its simply just a far more advanced version of what I have used in the past. I'm really stoked on working for Zach, he is a professional and a cool dude and I hope to learn a lot from him.
The Modern Recording book had to do a lot with Studio Design and Acoustics. I was definitely familiar with a majority of the information here. I have worked alongside other studios on the east coast setting up new and restoring facilities for recording. I have also had two project studios in the past and I find in really interesting the acoustics of a room and how simple changes can really make a large difference. I'm looking to open some sort of warehouse space in either San Francisco or Oakland to cater to musicians looking for a place to practice and perfrom on one side, as well as a gallery space for artists and their own artist studios. A lot of people have been supportive and have met two individuals I plan on pursuing this with in the future.
