I enjoyed this chapter very much. I had a rough idea of what compressors did but this chapter really drove the concept home for me. Zach had spoke to me about the different pumping effects you can create with attack and release times which has made me use my compressors differently. My ear has started to pick up the varying gain reduction in attack time and the different effects the release has dependent upon its speed. Before this chapter I was just smashing thing to make them louder, now I'm compressing to taste and using different techniques like parallel compression to achieve better results.
