Today was a mainly hands on learning day, which was what I was most looking forward to when I signed up for the program. After Mark had a discussion with a potential student, he posted up in the live room while I sat in the control room and played with the levels of incoming sounds. We spent some time recording Mark playing an acoustic guitar. We tried a series of different mic placements and even started experimenting with 2 different mics. We were doing this as a practice in getting comfortable behind a sound board and getting more acquainted with how things work in Pro Tools. It was probably one of the most educationally beneficial exercises I've had thus far.
