Michael WienerSignal Hill Recording Connection

Leaving the Nest Posted on 2016-07-05 by Michael Wiener

Hello lovely readers,

It's been a month since my last post so I know anyone reading must be hungry for my words. Since my last post I've had my last lesson with my mentor Brian Frederick, who has become a friend in the process of teaching me about the recording business. I was lucky enough to assist mixing on a band's single, "Self Control" by Bootleg Orchestra. As my final project my mix came out extremely well balanced, but nonetheless needed some work bringing the instruments to life, so I went back into my lab (my home studio and office) and continued to put sweat, love and effort into the mix. I brought it back to Brian and recieved his compliments of the mix.

Brian has been keen on helping me be aware of my strengths and weaknesses as an engineer, and I in turn have taken an active role in addressing those aspects of my mixes. As a result I have improved significantly in my workflow, and in the quality of my work. I have a few more mixes to finish before launching my very own website, so until then I will be hosting them on this portal for yall to enjoy <3 .

I learn more every day about the music industry, the business of it all, and every day it seems more and more unique of a path for individuals to follow. There are so many different ways to be involved in the industry, and to make money (a man's gotta eat). I am seeing it more clearly each day and I look forward to finding my own place in the biz.

I've explored private instruction for everything from recording techniques, music theory, beyond electronic music (DAWs, sound design, etc.) and DJ'ing and can say I truly enjoy the practice of teaching EVERYTHING music. While I am young I hope to perform and  live some of the hyped side of the industry (a man's gotta ball out).

I''l keep you droogies posted on my whereabouts,

Love,
