I never quite understood the difference between microphones and what some were used for more then others. Randy helped to show me that dynamic mic's were used for different things than condenser or ribbon mics; and so on and so forth for the others. Condenser mics are used for most vocals, but some artists like to use dynamic mics to get certain characteristics out of them. Ribbon microphones should not be used on very loud sounding instruments or vocals and you will shatter then inner parts. When doing my own music i tended to use condenser microphones but i now would like to try a dynamic mic to see the difference between the two.
