The weeks leading up to the arrival of my pro tools have put me in a favorable position. I have been doing extra curricular sessions that have I am getting compensated for, mostly teaching greenhorns how a studio session operates, managing their expectations and helping to make their projects a closer reflection of their vision. Also, I have been doing well marks wise achieving straight A’s on my assignments thus far. The studio environment is a comfortable place for me. I love the opportunity to walk blind into a session and be forced to think on my toes, present an air of confidence, and make the clients happy. I am referring of course to my session playing. I have yet to actually sit behind the console but I feel that I am garnering good experience in other facets of the process; such as production and session work. I am rekindling my love affair with my drums, which is a positive experience for me. Previously, I have always been thrust into the role of front man. I look forward to the latter half of the course wherein I will be able to make full use of my demo studio through various projects. Also, I plan to continue to push my presence in my new found home of Toronto. What’s left of this summer is looking great and I couldn’t be happier! Until next time…
