This session was very helpful in that Chris and I went through mainly how sound waves travel and how my ears perceive them. I often get off track of the lesson discussing how technology has changed the recording process. My main difficulties lie with in self -discipline. With a busy work and home life I find it difficult to have time to get down to all the reading along with the fact I am a hand written kind of guy. Transferring my notes to word documents is a bit of a task for me.

The positives far out way my own lack of motivations as Chris has a brilliant way of putting the terms discussed into a much more understandable realm. It’s a though he can draw pictures. This works for me as I am a visual person who works far better hands on. Chris is a joy to engage with and his devotion to his craft is beyond admirable.

This was demonstrated to me as I hade the chance to briefly sit in on a vocal recording session for a gospel crossover singer named Faith. She and Chris have been working together for a few years and she was preparing for the final recording, which was to follow a few weeks later in Toronto with her producer. It was inspiring to see Chris do what it is he does. I was also able to get a grasp on monitor levels in the control room for maximum effect in the mixdown stage.
