This session Chris worked with me on edits. The main thing being to learn key commands. Studio A does a lot of corperate work and audio text books is the main business frame. This was my first experience with using a DAWS. I was working on pro-tools 7.3.1. The emphasis was on reading along with the text to make sure there were no reading errors, deep breaths or long pauses. The object is to create a smooth flow within the reading. If the voice talent was not happy with a part of the reading she would re read a section. My job was to edit out the unwanted parts and keep a smooth rythem and flow. Fading in and out of every section and edit is paramount when doing this kind of work. I also got into the habit of continually saving wether I had made an edit or not. Chris described editing as a bit boring but I found it really exciting and fun as I was DOING something. I'm a hands on learner and though we were "just" editing audio text books I was more then happy to lend a hand when I had the time. Chris makes it clear that no question is a stupid question as he would rather explain something further then have me sit there for too long trying on my own power or stuffing something up therefore making more work in the end.
