I have been sitting in on one of Shawn’s clients on a weekly basis. The recorder artist has written some really catchy French tunes that Shawn is completing by mixing in different instruments. I had no clue what these songs are about because I do not know a lot of French, but I have been finding myself tapping along to the beat and humming. From sitting in on some of these lessons I am starting to really appreciate how hard Shawn works, and just how experienced and brilliant he is. He always knows exactly what musical instrument should be added to the tune to spice it up, and is an amazing piano player! He has actually inspired me to get piano lessons, because I believe it will be very beneficial for me. I can strengthen my musical ear, use it as a song writing tool, and strengthen my understanding of musical keys, and concepts such as harmonies. As with spending a day in the studio mixing, I also spend a session going over reading material and quizzes. I am working really hard at researching in more depth some of the topics in the book, and am determined to read every lesson every week. I am finding the material extremely interesting, but it is also a challenge. All in all I know I can do everything I set my mind too, and am excited about my future weeks in the studio!
