Progress/Points of interest: The Good and the Bad Posted on 2013-07-31 by Nikki Sage

Today was the last day in the studio before Shawn was to go on holidays. I got to go over three lessons at at time, as well as witness a younger artist record some vocals and guitar. I was particularly excited to see this individual because he was a young country artist recording his own original music. He is someone I aspire myself to be,and could not wait to help record. I helped Shawn set up the microphones for both the recording of guitar and vocals. I then got to go upstairs with Shawn and help listen and record the young man. Most of my time in the studio has been mixing of music already recorded, but today I got to watch a new guitar riff and vocal be overdubbed into the song. It was an exciting and fantastic experience. I got to see the ups of getting a really good sound form a take, but also the negative frustration of Shawn losing his temper on technology. There was an extra voice track playing through the speakers that Shawn and myself could not physically see in Logic. We spent forever trying to figure out where the source of that extra vocal was playing, and I could see Shawn and the artist frustration building. I guess this is a lesson learned for me,and that I need to wok on my own patience with technology and all the crazy things it can do.
