During this session, my mentor reviewed the Chapter 3 Quiz and the underlying concepts. He also answered several questions I had, and provided examples using Pro Tools HD.
Many of the concepts in this chapter were a challenge to initially understand as I am not an IT person and have had limited exposure to the digital world. Actually seeing examples (sequencing, sampling, clipping, etc.) of the different concepts using passages that were recorded in Pro Tools helped considerably, also with more explanation by my mentor. I also made notes of a few concepts that I will do further research on to gain more understanding.
I also got to view the various types of digital recorders that were described in the text. This was exciting to me as I have always been a bit of an equipment buff.
Overall, the session was very informative and I can see where a knowledge of these concepts is important as most audio work is now done using digital, as opposed to analog.
