This was the second recording session I had the opportunity to observe. The group was recording a five song EP for purposes of distribution during live performances and to get general exposure within the music community.
The group was a local band called Scare Card. They consisted of three guitarists (one serving also as vocalist, two on rhythm, and one playing lead), a base player, and a drummer. They played relatively fast paced straight up rock and roll.
It appeared that they were very accustomed to playing live, but has less experience in the studio. They took a while to get their stride, as the first song took a while to get just right. The guitarists were increasing the tempo as the song progressed and getting a little ahead of the drums. They did settle in with time and the remaining songs took less time to record.
This also was a great experience for me. It's exciting to watch the recording process take place.
