Week 9 BLS Posted on 2014-11-28 by Mitch Darlington

It's week 9! This week in the studio was a bit of the same and something new! On thursday Schara came back in to make some changes on her cover song. A few changes were made to make the song sound more to her liking. We removed a couple things and added some more effects and keys, after a couple hours it sounded a lot better and much more complete. I finished my lesson and my chapter quiz on pro tools basics. I was a little familiar with pro tools from owning it previously and what I've learned in the studio so this lesson was quite nice to fill in the gaps.

On my second day I came in to help add some instruments to some songs that were recorded before. These tracks were super funky. Funk is one of my favorite genres so this was quite enjoyable for me. For this session we would be recording vibes, tablas and a keyboard. This was a great time because Kaj had never recorded vibes before. We set up the Newman 69 and the coles on the vibes and set up a ribbon mic and dynamic mic on the tablas. Three songs were recorded. They jammed them out in a couple of tries and everything was done very quickly. All of the musicians were incredibly talented and the result was amazing.

I'm quite enjoying the variety in the studio and getting much more comfortable with pro-tools. See you next week!
