In the past couple weeks I've been practicing setting levels again for one of Edwin's songs. I remember when I first learned how to set levels how much longer it took, but then it also had less tracks as well. Now, I'm working with songs with anywhere up to 20 tracks to set levels and it's getting much easier to set them. I'm still working on some of my own songs which have been helping me with my skills in the studio and sitting on sessions. The songs I'm making are still not complete and I need to add some things before I mix and edit them. Making my own songs have also helped me to navigate through Pro Tools that way when I'm assisting in certain sessions I know exactly what I am doing and I make sure the sessions run more efficiently when I'm helping one of my classmates.
Tales of Joy has finished tracking all five of their songs for their EP and now we are getting to do the real work with mixing and editing them. I'm excited to watch the process of Edwin doing most of the mixing and editing so I have an idea how he does it. This will be very helpful when I get started doing my own recording project starting in August with one of my bands. I'm looking forward to tracking one of my bands and running the sessions on my own. It's becoming more clear that I need more experience in the studio and also building connections and finding people to track a couple songs. More projects have come along, but it's been slow and I need to be patient.
