Marilyn AllenCoffs Harbour Recording Connection

With me all the way Posted on 2014-12-05 by Marilyn Allen

On being accepted into this program I will confess that I let out a very loud "Yahooo". To be offered such an opportunity does not happen too many times in ones life. I intended to make the very best from it and got down to learning with the RRF curriculum and my mentor Murry Graham(Scrath And Bite Studios). Of course I knew the RRF would have their eyes on us, but a recent communication from the RRF has shown me that not only are they whatching and listening, they are right there beside, with me all the way. This can only make the experience all the more worthwhile.

This week Murry and I have been talking microphones. Types, uses, placement, configurations, room mics, miking instruments, DI's verse amp miking and everything inbetween. Also this week we worked on backing vocals for a current recording project of Murry's, The Moonshine Run. This has been the best experience yet. Laying down vocals, then going into the control room to be a part of mixing, it's like having the best of both worlds, all at once. All the while still being studio assistant, setting up cables and mics and making adjustments when required. Another top day on the job with Murry!
