Major: Audio Engineering

Matt got his first trombone at age 10, and has been hooked on music ever since. He earned scholarships on both trombone and euphonium to attend the University of Northern Colorado where he graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree. Matt then got his Masters Degree in Music Performance from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester England where he studied with euphonium virtuoso Steven Mead. Matt worked his way up in the Manchester music scene until he was recording regularly in studios around Manchester, as well as with many of the top brass bands, orchestras and function bands in the north of England. In 2011 Matt signed with Creation World Wide as a trombone and euphonium performance artist, and gigged across Europe for 2 years. During this time, he also served as a Senior Tutor and Conductor at the Sefton Music Service and the New Mills Brass Band.

It was when Matt got his first work as a studio musician in Manchester that the world of audio engineering opened up to him. He quickly learned Ableton and Cubase and began experimenting with electronic music, effects pedals, midi, synth (basically anything he could get his hands on) and combining these elements with the acoustic brass sound of his live performances. Soon, friends  began asking him to record their bands and he was spending more time in the studio than ever. After moving back to the States in early 2015, Matt saw the perfect opportunity to improve his audio engineering skills and enrolled with the Recording Connection.

Based out of north Denver, Matt is freelancing regularly across the state as a performer and educator, as well as working with his Recording Connection Mentor Taylor Franklyn at Denver Media Center.
