I've finally finished the Gospel album that's taken months to complete and it's a good feeling. I've moved on to other projects, assigned to me by my mentor. The problem I run into (as Ron pointed out), is that I get "sucked into the vortex"; meaning I'll sit for hours trying to find the perfect EQ, etc. while other engineers would've been satisfied with the product after fifteen minutes of mixing. I literally can't help it. I'm a total perfectionist and my ear has always been extremely sharp. I'm not trying to sound boastful, but it's been told to me since I was very young. If I had more time to dedicate to mixing these projects, being "sucked into the vortex" wouldn't be a problem. But unfortunately, being a single mom and a student elsewhere, I have only 3-5 days a week (depending on my class load)/six hours a day that I'm able to designate as studio time. So, in order to be most efficient, I must a) learn to manage my time better and b) know when to walk away.
