List one or two paragraphs on what you learned, what did you do?
This week is a continuation of last week where so much of the learning is actual hands on experience. As stated in my last blog, I am recording a couple of my songs at the studio, however, I pulled in some help from the other students at Trench Recordings. With the other students being musicians as well, they also got a chance to be part of my songs and record drums and guitar. Today we continued recording the drum tracks for the 2 songs that I am doing. The drummer and guitarist is the same person, and also another student from Recording Connections. As we finished setting everything up, I guided the drummer through the structure and layout of the songs and gave him a jist of how I wanted the basic beat to sound. Once we figured everything out, we started to record, taking many takes to allow the drummer to get comfortable with my song.
After a couple hours of recording, everyone took a break and then came back to listen to all the takes to see which ones we should keep or trash. Once we finalized the drums track we called it a day and everyone got a chance to take the files home to edit and play around with them. Today has been an amazing experience, can`t wait until this is my career.
