Lesson #: 15

List one or two paragraphs on what you learned, what did you do?

This week we continued to work on my own tracks. We recorded a few takes going through the whole song and then we started to record many takes for the verses, choruses and bridges. After a good few takes, as a group, the other students and I analyzed the tracks that we had recorded and tried to make one full comped track. Once that was completed, we listened back to the full track and figured out any changes that might have needed to be made.

Once we got the full take, I went back into the booth to record a doubling vocal line. The tricky part about this was trying to remember how you swung the melody for each section of the song, so that it sounded alike. We managed to accomplish that and then moved onto recording backups and harmony vocals. Now this is easy when you are doing it for one song, but when you start to add multiple songs – it gets a little tricky.

All in all this has been another great week of recording and trying to get all of the takes needed to complete my track.
