Another day in the studio yesterday. When I arrived there was a musician there named Dave Spivak working on a few songs. I mostly just observed and watched aside from tracking my mentor doing a tambourine track to add an extra element to one of Dave's songs. I really don't mind days like that at all though, It gives me an opportunity to see how my mentor works with different clients and genres. Once Dave was finished, Len had to do some troubleshooting on his computer so he set me up on a different computer and had me basically just messing around with a practice session, just seeing how different EQ's and compressors sound on different instruments. At around 6 pm, some rappers from London, Ontario showed up to work on their album BC2NY & from what I heard last night these guys are going to do some big things! (This was their 4th or 5th consecutive day at bedside I believe) They had rented out the studio for around 6 hours. They brought their own engineer so my mentor just went and hung out in the other room. I stuck around and hung out with them for a few hours. I observed some of what their engineer was doing and learned a couple new things. They had friends and other artists coming in and out of the studio as well. It was the first session I've been to like that and I think it was a really cool experience. Another artist from London, England & his friend who engineer's came by for a tour of the studio while all the guys from Ontario were still doing their thing, which to me, was a perfect time to show up for a tour and see a real session in progress. They definitely seemed impressed with what they saw/heard. Met some good people and had a great night !
